Tigran Petrossian Memorial Open dedicated to Tigran Petrossian Year finished in Yerevan Armenia (18-27 November 2004).
Smirnov Pavel of Russia wins the tournament with 7.5 points, 0.5 points ahead of the winner of the second prize Ivanchuk Vassily of Ukraine. Asrian Karen of Armenia took the third prize.

FIDE has officially announced the year of 2004 as a Tigran Petrossian Year. Many chess tournaments in honor of the famous chess player have been held in many countries during 2004.
Tigran Petrossian Memorial Open 2004 was held in Yerevan, Armenia, from 19-27 November 2004. It is a part of the Festival which also includes the European Rapid Chess Championship 2004 which has commenced after the Petrossian Memorial on 28 November 2004.

The Tigran Petrossian Year celebration will continue in the Internet tournament which will take place in Yerevan, Armenia, in the middle of December 2004. Many strong Armenian, Russian, French and Chinese chess players will compete in this tournament.
