On January the 23rd, 2005, an agreement was signed between Eng. Armando Chavez Rivera, General Director of the Tabasco State Sport Institute and IA Jorge Vega Fernandez, President of the Confederation of Chess for America to establish an International Training Centre in Villahermosa City, Tabasco, assisting the top sport figures of the sport administration and the CCA technicians.
The aim of this Centre is to raise the level of the CACDEC Spanish speaking federations of the area, although any CACDEC member can assist.
The Institute provided a nice air conditioned local and shall cover all the maintenance cost, also granting low price accommodation for the assistants; CCA provided computers and shall cover the honoraries and transportation costs of the technicians.
Following the CCA and FIDE spirit in order to promote chess, no entry fee shall be requested to participants coming from CACDEC federations.
After the signature a chess activity was provided to local children assisting to it.
I want to express my gratitude to Eng Chavez for all the help given and also to CACDEC for the support that made possible this Centre, the first in America although a similar Centre shall open this year to attend the English speaking federations of the Caribbean.
