Summer is the time for tournaments for the youth. The World Youth Festival starts 18 July in Belfort, France. We publish the final standings of the XVI Panamerican Youth Festival held 11-18 June in Balneario Camboriu, Brazil and the 6th ASEAN Youth Championships held 11-20 June in Pattaya, Thailand. Two international events precede the World Youth starting 18 July in Belfort, France. From 8 to 16 July, the 7th International Youth Open shall be held in Saint-Lo, France with over 200 children participating. Going on now is the 4th Dubai Open Juniors from 4 to 12 July.

The Dubai Open Juniors, now in its 4th edition, is growing in popularity with 120 children from 14 countries competing in the 9-round Swiss until 12 July at the Dubai Chess Club in the United Arab Emirates. At stake is US$10,000 in cash prizes for three Categories U10, U12 and U14. Watch top boards live starting 18:00 local time (GMT+4)at the official site.

Participants are from Azerbaijan, Australia, Bahrain, Bosnia, Germany, India, Iran, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Turkmenistan, UAE, England and the USA.



At the opening ceremonies were, from left: Chief Arbiter Madhi Abdul Rahim, General Secretary of UAE Chess Federation Mohammed Kajoor, UAE Chess Federation and Dubai Chess Club President Ibrahim Al-Bannai, and Iranian Chess Federation President Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Maddahi.
