Egyptian 11-year-old Mona Khaled won the Arab Girls Under-20 Championship to become the youngest Woman International Master and earn a WGM norm as well. Also held 20 to 29 November in Amman, Jordan were the Arab Under-16, 18 and 20 Championships for boys and girls. For final standings, read more. Egyptian 11-year-old Mona Khaled won the Arab Girls Under-20 Championship to become the youngest Woman International Master and earn a WGM norm as well. Also held 20 to 29 November in Amman, Jordan were the Arab Under-16, 18 and 20 Championships for boys and girls.
IM Amin Bassem of Egypt won the Juniors U-20 alone with 7.5 points. Marwan Abdulwahab of United Arab Emirates won the Boys U18 section with 7 points while FM Ahmed Ishaq of United Arab Emirates topped the Boys U-16 with 8 points.
In the Girls division, WIM Natlie Jamaleeh of Jordan won the U18 section with a perfect score and WFM Saleh Nora Mohd of United Arab Emirates won the Girls U16 section with 7.5 points.

A release by the Arab Chess Federation announced: All eyes are on Mona nowadays and all chess fans in Arab countries saw how talented a chess player is Mona, who in only two years of playing chess has become on top. Thanks to the great support done by her parents specially Mona`s mother Gihan El-Sahhar, an international agreement specialist for Egypt Air, who managed for Mona`s success during the last two years .
