5th Istanbul International Chess Tournament will take place in Istanbul, Turkey from 30 August to 8 September 2006. There will be four categories: International Open Chess Tournament, Blitz Open Chess Tournament, Universities Individual Chess Tournament, U16 Chess Tournament.

The tournament with the total prize of 38350 USD is organized in the historical peninsula of Istanbul in a cistern (water storage) which was built by Eastern Roman Empire 1600 years ago.
