The Chess Classic Mainz 2006 included such chess talents as Vishy Anand (IND), Levon Aronian (ARM), Peter Svidler (RUS), Teimur Radjabov (AZE), Alexandra Kosteniuk (RUS) and Elizabeth Pahtz (GER). It took place from 15 to 20 August 2006. Vishy Anand of India won the Rapid tournament for the 9th time (7th in a row) and Levon Aronian won Chess960 Open for the 3rd time.
