 Zaven Andriasian of Armenia and Shen Yang of China won the World Juniors and Girls Championships, respectively. Representatives from 43 countries saw action 2-17 October in Yerevan, Armenia. In the strong field of 83 boys in the junior division were 11 GMs and 22 IMs. Among the 57 girls competing were 10 WGMs and 11 WIMs. Visit the Official Site of the Armenian Chess Federation. Showing great promise, 12-year-old Hou Yifan of China tied for first and placed second by tie-break.
