For the second time Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia hosted the tournament for the Cup of the Governor of the region, from 20 to 26 November 2006. 9 regions of Russia and 5 other countries were represented by more than 110 chess players, among them - 8 Grandmasters, 15 International Masters and 5 FIDE Masters.
