 India won all three golds in the Rapid Chess Mixed Team, and Men`s and Women`s Individual events in the ongoing Asian Indoor Games in Macau. India won the mixed team event, with silver going to Vietnam and bronze to Iran. Regulations
1. Date and Place
The Chess competition for the Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games will be held in Macau International Shooting Range from 26th of October to 3rd of November, 2007. This schedule is, however, subject to changes depending on the final number of entries.
2. Venues
2.1 Competition Venue
Macau International Shooting Range is located approximately 6 km from Macao city centre, with a seating capacity of over 400 and a competition area of 110m X 8m.
2.2 Training Venue
The Training will be conducted at the competition site.
3. Events
3.1 There will be 3 categories of events
Classical Chess
Rapid Chess
Blitz Chess
3.2 For each category of event, there will be mixed team competitions and individual competitions for both men and women.

5. Eligibility
5.1 The 2nd Asian Indoor Games Chess competition is exclusive for teams representing the National Olympic Committee (NOC).
5.2 Only competitors who comply with the conditions integrated in OCA constitution are entitled to participate.
5.3 Each team representing their NOC for Chess competition, may be composed of no more than ten (10) persons – one (1) Head of
Delegation; one (1) Coach; not more than four (4) Men athletes and not more than four (4) Women athletes.
5.4 For all the Team Events, each team shall be composed of two (2) men athletes and two (2) women athletes with one (1) man reserve and one (1) woman reserve. The athletes shall be arranged in a fixed order Men 1; Men 2; Women 1; Women 2. In any particular round, the reserve may be used to substitute an athlete who is not playing.
5.5 For the Classical Chess & Rapid Chess Team Event, the best two scores on each board shall qualify for the individual event provide they must have played all six (6) rounds. For Blitz Chess Individual, not more than two (2) athletes (one man and one woman) can be registered.
6. Entries
6.1 Entries of each participating NOC must be submitted in accordance with the regulations laid by MAIGOC.
6.2 Deadline for Entry Forms by number (Preliminary) Preliminary Entry Forms by number from Technical Officials and each participating NOC, forwarded through the respective National Olympic Committee (NOC) must be completed and should be received by MAIGOC no later than 22nd of June, 2007 at 18:00 hours,Macau Local time.
6.3 Deadline for Entry Forms by Name (Final) The Entry Forms by name must be received by MAIGOC no later than 14th of September, 2007 at 18:00 hours, Macau Local time. The completed Entry by Name forms must be submitted for each athlete and must include all necessary information including the athlete’s full name. NOCs may make changes or submit amended Entry by Name forms up to and including the day of deadline, but no such amendments will be permitted after the deadline.
6.4 Both entries by number and by name forms may be sent by fax and subsequently confirmed with stamped original by posting to the following address:

7. Technical Meeting
A Team Manager Meeting will be held on 25th of October, 2007(one day before commencement of competition).
8. General Rules and Regulations
8.1 Competition Rules
The Chess competition will be conducted in accordance with the latest FIDE Rules. In case of translation related disagreements over the rules, the English text shall prevail. Any unforeseen incident not addressed by the rules shall be resolved as follows:
• General issues: Resolved in accordance with the OCA Constitution.
• Technical issues: Resolved in accordance with the spirit of the FIDE Laws of Chess.
8.2 Duration of Competition
8.2.1 Classical Chess: 90 minutes with increment of 30 seconds per move.
8.2.2 Rapid Chess: 25 minutes with increment of 10 seconds per move.
8.2.3 Blitz Chess: 3 minutes with increment of 2 seconds per move.
8.3 Classical Chess & Rapid Chess Team
8.3.1 The teams will compete using the Swiss-System of 6 rounds.
8.3.2 Each match shall be played over four (4) boards; Men 1, Men 2, Women 1 and Women 2.
8.3.3 The scoring for each board shall be one (1) point for win; half (1/2) point for draw and zero (0) for a loss. The total, Game Points, shall decide the result of a match – one (1) for win; half (1/2) for draw and zero (0) for loss.
8.3.4 The final rankings shall be decided by the number of Match Points. In case of a tie, the following order shall be considered:-
a) number of Game Points;
b) result of individual match between the teams tied;
c) total sum of the Match Points of the team’s opponent teams;
d) total sum of the Game Points of the team’s opponent teams;
e) play-off match between the teams tied using Blitz Chess Sudden Death Rule.
8.4 Classical Chess & Rapid Chess Individual (Men & Women)
8.4.1 From the Team Event, the best two scores on each board shall qualify for the Individual Event provided they must have played all six (6) rounds.
8.4.2 In case of a tie, the following order shall be considered:-
a) result of individual game between the players tied;
b) total sum of the scores of the player’s opponents;
c) playoff match between the players tied using Blitz Chess Sudden Death Rule.
8.4.3 The draw for the Semi-Final:-
M1 (W1) best scorer vs M2 (W2) second best scorer
M1 (W1) second best scorer vs M2 (W2) best scorer
8.4.4 The winner of the two (2) game match shall qualify for the Final. In case of a drawn match, the Blitz Chess Sudden Death Rule shall
apply.
8.4.5 The Finalists shall contest a two-game match. In case of a drawn match, the Blitz Chess Sudden Death Rule shall apply.
8.4.6 The two losing semi-finalists shall be awarded the Bronze Medal.
8.5 Blitz Chess Team
8.5.1 The teams will compete using the Swiss-System of 9 rounds.
8.5.2 Each match shall be played over four (4) boards; Men 1, Men 2, Women 1 and Women 2.
8.5.3 The scoring for each board shall be one (1) point for win; half (1/2) point for draw and zero (0) for a loss. The total, Game Points, shall decide the result of a match – one (1) for win; half (1/2) for draw and zero (0) for loss.

8.6.1 The competitors shall compete using the Swiss-System of 9 rounds.
8.6.2 The four (4) best players will compete in the Semi-Final.
8.6.3 In case of a tie, the following order shall be considered:
a) result of individual game between the players tied;
b) total sum of the scores of the player’s opponents;
c) playoff match between the players tied using Blitz Chess Sudden Death Rule.
8.6.4 The draw for the Semi-Final:
M1 (W1) best scorer vs M4 (W4) fourth best scorer
M2 (W2) second best scorer vs M3 (W3) third best scorer
8.6.5 The winner of the four (4) game match shall qualify for the Final. In case of a drawn match, the Blitz Chess Sudden Death Rule shall apply.
8.6.6 The Finalists shall contest a four-game match. In case of a drawn
match, the Blitz Chess Sudden Death Rule shall apply.
8.6.7 The two losing semi-finalists shall be awarded the Bronze Medal.
8.7 Blitz Chess Sudden Death Rule
After the draw for colours, White shall be given 6 minutes and Black
given 5 minutes. In case the game ends in a draw, Black qualifies.
9. Technical Officials and Jury of Appeal
The necessary Technical Officials and Jury of Appeal for the Chess competition will be appointed by the ACF, and approved by OCA and MAIGOC. These personnel includes: one (1) Technical Delegate, one (1) Chief Arbiter, one (1) Deputy Chief Arbiter, Assistant Arbiters, three (3) Pairings Committee Members and five (5) Appeals Committee Members.
10. Claims and Protests
Claims and Protest made to the judges on the ground concerning matters of fact are decided by the Technical Committee without appeal. Appeals against other decisions of the judge or with regard to any other matter must be addressed in due time to the Chairman of the Jury of Appeal, by a representative of the Member Organization of the NOC making the appeal.
Any claim must be made within thirty (30) minutes of the decision giving rise to the claim. The Jury of Appeal after an investigation shall then give a decision and this decision shall be irrevocable, except for the case of disqualification of a team or of a competitor for infraction of the Rules and Regulations of the Games, which shall be decided by the Court of Appeal. All claims and appeals must be made in writing. Protest will be dealt with in accordance to the FIDE rules. All protests must be accompanied by a deposit of one hundred dollars (US$100) or its equivalent. Any protest without the deposit will be considered void.
11. Uniform
All athletes participating in the chess competition will wear appropriate clothing and apparel that comply with the FIDE dress code regulations. No athlete or technical official may attach any commercial advertising to his or her competition uniform without prior agreement with OCA, FIDE and MAIGOC.
12. Competition Equipment
Sport equipment will be in accordance with the specification set by FIDE Rules and Regulations.
13. Penalties in Case of Fraud
A competitor proved fraudulently to have transgressed the Rules and Regulations of the Games Federation, shall be disqualified and lose any position he/she may have gained. If this competitor’s Member Organization is proven to have been a party to the fraud, his/her NOC shall be disqualified in the sport involved.
14. Withdrawal
An accepted athlete or team cannot withdraw except for reasons for sickness or injury. A request to withdraw must be supported by an official physician’s certificate. All decisions must be approved by the Chief Arbiter and the Technical Delegate.
15. Prizes
15.1 Language
Chinese and English will be used for the Victory Ceremony
15.2 Clothing
All awardees must wear their NOC’s official clothing.
15.3 Order of Awards
The medals will be called out and conferred in following order: 3rd, 2nd, 1st

First Prize: Gold medal and diploma for the winner in each event.
Second Prize: Silver medal and diploma for the first runnerup in each event.

First Prize: Gold medal and diploma for the winner in each event.
Second Prize: Silver medal and diploma for the first runnerup in each event.
Third Prize:(Two third prizes) Bronze medal and diploma for the second runner-up in each event.
Fifth to Sixth Prize: Diploma to the competitors place fifth to sixth in each event.
Team Events
First Prize: Gold medal and diploma for each participating member of the winning team.
Second Prize: Silver medal and diploma for each participating member of the first runner-up team.
Third Prize: Bronze medal and diploma for each participating member of the second runnerup team.
