Juan Fernandez, Mayor of Linares (Spain) and Javier Ochoa de Echaguen, President of the Federacion Iberoamericana de Ajedrez (FIBDA), signed the agreement to organize the II Iberoamerican Chess Championship scheduled to take place in Morelia/Linares concurrent with the prestigious International chess tournament. .
Juan Fernandez, Mayor of Linares (Spain) and Javier Ochoa de Echaguen, President of the Federacion Iberoamericana de Ajedrez (FIBDA), signed the agreement to organize the II Iberoamerican Chess Championship scheduled to take place in Morelia/Linares concurrent with the prestigious International chess tournament.
The first part of the event will be held in Morelia, from February 13th till February 20th and the second part in Linares from 29th February till the 7th of March 2008.
All 23 Iberoamerican Chess Federations are entitled to send an invited player to take part in the Championship. The current Iberoamerican champion, GM Lazaro Bruzon (Cuba) is also invited.
The total amount of prices will be 23.200 Euro (approximately 34.000 USD). |
