Three Chinese, Li Chao, Ni Hua and Zhou Weiqi placed first to third to win the lion`s share of the $40,000 Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Cup held 21 to 29 Nov. in Manila. Starting 1st December is the $30,000 3rd Prospero Pichay, Jr. International also in Manila in the back-to-back events organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP). The two consecutive international tournaments in Manila organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines shall usher in the new ASEAN Grand Prix and Masters Circuit among the four countries in the Grand Prix, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore. The $40,000 Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Cup, FIDE President`s awardee for Tournament of the Year 2006, held 21-29 November 2007 is followed immediately by the $30,000 3rd Prospero Pichay, Jr. Cup International Chess Championship scheduled 1-7 December 2007, both in Manila.
