The Chinese men`s and women`s teams won both titles in the Asian Men`s and Women`s Team Championships held 2-9 January 2008 in Vishakhapatnam, Andra Pradesh, India. In both divisions, India (Reds) won silver while Vietnam won the bronze. Sixteen teams from seven counries took part in the round robin competitions. The tournaments were conducted as all-play-all Round Robin events.
The Chinese all-GM men`s team was composed of Wang Yue, Bu Xiangzhi, Wang Hao, Zhao Jun and Zhou Jianchao.
Krishnan Sasikiran led the Indian Reds team composed of Surya Shekhar Ganguly, Abhijit Kunte, G.N. Gopal and Abhijeet Gupta.
The Vietnamese team was composed of GMs Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Le Quang Liem, Nguyen Ang Hung and Dao Thein Hai.
In the women`s, the Chinese team members were Zhao Xue, Huang Qian and Shen Yang. The India Reds team is composed of IM Harika Dronavalli, WGM Mohota Nisha, WGM Tani Sachdev and WGM Ramaswamy Aarthie.
