10th DUBAI OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
For SHEIKH RASHED BIN HAMDAN CUP
5th To 15th April 2008
The Dubai Chess & Culture Club has the pleasure to invite players to participate in the 10th DUBAI OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP to be held in DUBAI United Arab Emirates from 5th to 15th April 2008.
Participation & Entry Fee:
1) Participation in 10th DUBAI OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP is open to all rated players.
2) All chess players may be accepted, but in this case the participating players shall pay the accommodation expenses during the period of championship in United Arab Emirates.
3) Entry Fee:
GM, WGM, IM, WIM free of charge
Rated player above 2300 75 AED
Rated player 2200 To 2299 100 AED
Rated player 2000 To 2199 150 AED
Rated player less than 2000 200 AED
(1 US$ = 3.67 AED (UAE currency)
Note: Unrated Players are not accepted
TOURNAMENT VENUE:
The 10th DUBAI OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP will be held in DUBAI from 5th to 15th April 2008, in DUBAI CHESS & CULTURE CLUB.
PLAYING CONDITIONS:
1. The 10th DUBAI OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP will be played in 9 rounds according to the Swiss System.
2. 1 hour 30 minutes for the whole game with an incremental time of 30 seconds per move from move 1.
DAILY PROGRAMME:
The Chief Arbiter will announce the daily program at the beginning of the tournament according to tournament schedule for the 10th DUBAI OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP.
ARBITRATION & COMMITTEE OF APPEAL:
The chief arbiter and the organizing committee will nominate the arbitration team and the Appeal Committee will be selected according to the provisions of FIDE regulations.
Sheikh Rashed Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum CUP:
The custody of Sheikh Rashed Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum CUP is the Challenge Trophy of the 10th DUBAI OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP; the Champion player will be awarded the custody of Sheikh Rashed Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup.
PRIZES:
The Organizing Committee will grant the prizes total of which is U.S. $ 45,000 as follows:

2nd place U.S. $ 5000
3rd place U.S. $ 4000
4th place U.S. $ 3000
5th place U.S. $ 2500
6th place U.S. $ 2200
7th place U.S. $ 2000
8th place U.S. $ 1700
9th place U.S. $ 1500
10th place U.S. $ 1300
11th place U.S. $ 1200
12th place U.S. $ 1100
13th place U.S. $ 1000
14th place U.S. $ 900
15th place U.S. $ 800

If two or more players share the same place, the money will be equally shared. The awarding of the Cup will be decided in case of sharing the first place by the average rating of the 8 strongest opponents who share first place.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION:
1. The personally invited Grandmasters with an Elo rating of above 2600(1/1/2007) will be provided free accommodation in single rooms 3 star hotel. The personally invited Grandmasters with an Elo rating between (2550 - 2599) will be provided free accommodation in double rooms in 3 star hotels and will have to share the room with another Grandmaster.( there is limited number of rooms available, and the priority will be given to the earliest registered players.)
2. The personally invited Grandmasters are provided accommodation one day prior to the inauguration and one day after the closing ceremony of the championship.
3. The Dubai Chess & Culture Club will arrange entry visa and hotel booking for the other participants; they have to pay the accommodation expenses during the period of championship in Dubai - United Arab Emirates.
HOW TO REACH DUBAI:
The Dubai International Airport is the main port entry to DUBAI and is centrally located with daily connection flights to and from major airports. Reception committee shall meet participants at the airport to facilitates their entry formalities and escort them to their hotel.
VISAS:
Entry Visas to U.A.E will be issued for all participants and valid 15 days only from the arrival date and can be received at the Dubai International airport to (all invited participants and all players who send a registration form and passport copy)
