The II Iberoamerican Chess Championship will start on 15 February in Morelia (04.00 p.m. local time). 24 players representing 21 countries will figth for the title of "Campeon Iberoamericano". Such number of the participants is a new record for this competition. 12 players with the title of International Chess Grandmaster will participate in the Championship this year. The II Iberoamerican Chess Championship will start on 15 February in Morelia (04.00 p.m. local time).

Four groups will be played in Morelia, MEX. The two first of each group will be qualified for the finals in Linares, ESP. The total amount of prizes will be approximately 35.000 US Dollars.
The Opening Ceremony will be held in the Teatro Ocampo in Morelia on 14 February at 07:00 p.m. (local time). The Governor of Michoacan State, the Mayors of Morelia and Linares and the Presidents of the Mexican Chess Federation, Raul Hernandez and Iberomerican Chess Federation (FIBDA), Javier Ochoa de Echaguen will be present at the Opening Ceremony.
