 The annual International Chess Festival``Aeroflot Open 2008`` took place in Moscow from 13 February (the day of arrival) to 23 February 2008 (the day of departure). The official hotel and tournament venue was hotel``Gamma-Delta`` belonging to the Tourist Complex``Ismailovo``.

The Organizers of the Festival are the``Aeroflot-Russian Airlines``, the Association of Chess Federations and the Russian Chess Federation in cooperation with the Committee on Tourism of the Municipality of Moscow.
The festival consisted of four tournaments. Each tournament was a nine rounds Swiss Tournament. High rated FIDE chess players have been participating in the tournament every year. Nepomniachtchi, Ian, RUS won the Tournament A1 with 7.0 points.
The total prize fund of the four tournaments was 200 000 USD.
