4th World School Chess Teams Championship Print

The 4th World School Teams Champiomship will be held in Pardubice, the Czech Republic from 9th to 17th July 2008. The organizers of this championship are: The Federation International des Echecs (FIDE), The International School Chess Union, The Chess Federation of the Czech Republic, AVE-KONTAKT Pardubice agency. The Children Clubs Championship will be organized within the frame of the World School Championship. The tournaments for school chess teams will be in categories U10, U12, U14, U16.

GENERAL REGULATIONS

1. Invitation

AVE-KONTAKT Pardubice agency (the organizer of Czech Open Chess Festival and Czech Tour Chess Festivals Series), Chess Federation of the Czech Republic and International School Chess Union have the honour of inviting School Teams and Children Clubs from each National Chess Federation, FIDE affiliated, to participate in the 4th WORLD SCHOOL CHESS TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP organised in Pardubice, the Czech Republic from 9th July (Arrival) to 17th July (Departure) 2008. The Children Clubs Championship will be organized within the frame of the World School Championship.
2. Participation
2.1. Each national federation may enter an unlimited number of school teams and clubs.

2.2. Team composition for School Team Tournament is four pupils from the same school and in the same age`s group; any combination of boys and girls is possible. The tournament will be organized in 4 categories according to 2.5. It will be played in 1 - 4 groups according to the number of teams. Organizing Committee will decide about dividing into groups and in case of need some groups could be played by round robin system with different number of rounds. Time schedule can be changed except the dates of 1st and the last round. Each category will be awarded separately.

2.3. Team composition for The Children Clubs Championship is one player under 10, one player under 12, one player under 14 and one player under 16; players can be members of different schools located in one Municipal area; any combination of boys and girls is possible.

2.4. Each team and club shall have one head of delegation (teacher or coach).

2.5. Entitled to participate are players (boys & girls) who shall not have reached the age:

   -    Of 10, by 1st January 2008 (date of Birth - January 1st, 1998 and after) - School Tournament Under 10;
   -    Of 12, by 1st January 2008 (date of Birth - January 1st, 1996 and after) - School Tournament Under 12;
   -    Of 14, by 1st January 2008 (date of Birth - January 1st, 1994 and after) - School Tournament Under 14;
   -    Of 16, by 1st January 2008 (date of Birth - January 1st, 1992 and after) - School Tournament Under 16.

2.6. Age of each participant of The Children Clubs Championship has corresponded to point 2.5 of these regulations.

2.7. Each team and club must be proved by a document of the representation.

2.8. Each participant must bring a photocopy of his passport or identity card for the Organizing Committee.

2.9. Accommodation and travel expenses for teams and clubs will be covered from national chess federations, schools, clubs, municipal area administration, and the parents of participants or sponsors.
3. Entry - Registration fees & FIDE fees
3.1. Each team and club must pay 100 EUR to the Organizing Committee as a registration fee.
3.2. In accordance with FIDE regulations an entry fee of 80 EUR is required for each team. Their national federations must send this amount directly to FIDE. Entry fee for clubs is not paid.

3.3. For teams registered directly in the Organizing Committee, the FIDE entry fee must be paid before the start of the first round either to their national federation (proved by a receipt document) or to the Organizing Committee in Pardubice.

4. Registration and Travel conditions
4.1. Entry forms must be filled in by the national federations or school teams or clubs and returned to the Organizing Committee not later than June 1st 2008. If the registration form is not completed by the federation, a copy must be sent to the national federation.

4.2. The complete registration form must include the surname/s, first name/s, FIDE ID number, FIDE rating and title, and passport number or identity card number of each player and each accompanying person. It must also include the name and telephone/e-mail/fax number of the Delegation chief.

4.3. The cost of bus transportation from Prague airport to the tournament venue in Pardubice University (July 9) with return on the departure day (July 17) is 28 EUR per person. Transportation in other days is possible after personal requests.

4.4. At the moment of registration (until 1st June 2008) the amount of 30 EUR (registration) + 30% of the total accommodation cost + 28 EUR transportation cost (if required) must be transferred, free of bank charges, to the following bank account of the Organizing Committee for each participant or accompanying person:

4.5. Once the transfer has been confirmed, the Organising Committee will confirm the assigned booking confirmation for all the room reservations.

4.6. As exception, all payments can be realized in cash or through credit and debet cards during the registration in Pardubice.
5. Accommodation - Playing hall
5.1. Accommodation and board will be provided in the University of Pardubice dormitory. Participants will get 2-bed or 3-bed rooms, WC and shower on the floor (according to their choice). The price for this accommodation with full board is 16 EUR per day per person. Meals will be served in the students` dinner-rooms.
Rooms with one`s own WC and shower at the dormitory and accommodation in hotels for different prices are available too.
Playing hall is the multi-purpose ``CEZ Arena`` (a new rebuilt ice hockey stadium) at the distance of 800 m from the University of Pardubice dormitory.

5.2. All payments for all players and accompanying persons must be made on arrival in Pardubice or in advance in EUR, USD, CZK currency. No later payments will be accepted.

7. Rules and regulations
The Team and Club Championships are different tournaments. Both tournaments will be played according to the Swiss System in 7 rounds. Rate of play will be according to FIDE regulations. The time rate should be 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1. The results will be sent to FIDE rating.
8. Prizes - Awards
8.1. The first team-winner in each age category of School Team Tournament is the FIDE World School Team Champion for 2008.
FIDE shall award the title of FIDE Candidate Master to each player of the winning team, subject to the individual achieving 50% from games played.

8.2. The first club-winner of The Children Clubs Championship is the ISCU Children Clubs Champion for 2008.

8.3. Team-winners of the First, Second and Third places in each age category and the members of the teams will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, Diplomas and Special Trophies.
The Club-winners of the First, Second and Third places and the members of the clubs will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, Diplomas and Special Trophies.
Material prizes for all participants.

9. Tournament bulletin
Tournament bulletin will be free of charge for each federation delegation and team.
Additional bulletins will be on sale.

12. Visa information
Teams or players needing visa are requested to contact the Organizing Committee before June 1st 2008.
The Organizing Committee will provide invitations for visas only after the necessary payments. Schengen visas are valid in the Czech Republic from 2008!
