![]() Please read General Regulations of the championships. 4th WORLD SCHOOLS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 1. INVITATION - Of 7, by 1st January 2008 (date of Birth - January 1st, 2001 and after) - Category Under 7;2.3. Participants, Officials and Accompanying Persons will be responsible for their travel expenses, board and lodging. Respective Champions of last year's World Schools Championships and Current Champions of the Continental Schools Individual Championships shall be accorded free board and lodging based on twin-sharing basis provided they register not later than 15th June 2008. 3. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY - FEES 3.1. Each participant must pay 30 EUR to the Organising Committee as a registration fee. 3.2. In accordance with FIDE regulations, the entry fee payable to FIDE is 40 EUR per player. Their National Federation must send this amount directly to FIDE. For participants who registered through their School, the FIDE entry fee must be paid before the start of the first round either to their National Federation (proof of a Receipt/document) or to the Organising Committee in Singapore. 4. REGISTRATION AND TRAVEL CONDITIONS 4.1. Entry forms must be filled from the National Federations or School Associations or own School and returned to the Organising Committee not later than 15th June 2008. If the registration form is not filled by the Federation a copy must be sent to the National Federation. 4.2. The complete registration form must include the surname/s, first name/s, FIDE ID number, FIDE rating and title, date of birth, gender and passport number of each player and each accompanying person. It must also include the name and telephone/e-mail/fax number of the Delegation chief. 4.3. The cost of a 2-way airport transfer to and from the official Tournament Hotel 60 EUR per person. 4.4. At the moment of registration (until 15th June 2008) the amount of 30 EUR (registration) + total accommodation cost + 60 EUR airport transfer (if required) must be transferred, free of bank charges, to the following bank account of the Organising Committee for each participant, official an accompanying person. Delegations are adviced to pay the total amount of their expenses through the bank account: Bank Account:Once the transfer has been confirmed, the Organising Committee will confirm the assigned booking confirmation for all the hotel reservations. 5. ACCOMMODATION & PLAYING VENUE 5.1. The Playing Venue is Teck Ghee Community Club, 861 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, Singapore 569734. Board and Lodging will be provided at Hotel Royal (4-star), Newton Road (20 minutes by train) and Hangout Hotel (30 minutes by train). 5.2. All participants are obliged to lodge at the official hotels. Every accompanying person who requests a visa from the Organising Committee is obliged to lodge at the official hotels. Bookings are made only through the Organising Committee (fill registration and bookings forms). 5.3. Hotel payments for all players and accompanying persons must be made in advance. Hotel payments must be paid in EUR currency (euros). No future payments of hotel bills will be accepted. After 15th June 2008, subject to availability of space and hotel room, the registration fee will be 60 euro. 5.4. Board and lodging for players, officials, coaches and accompanying persons. 6. RULES AND REGULATIONS 6.1. The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. Rate of play will be according to FIDE regulations 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the Game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1. 6.2. Participants who are absent from the Technical Meeting will not paired for the first round. 7. PLAYING SCHEDULE 8. PRIZES - TITLES 8.1. The winner in each open age category is the FIDE World School Champion for 2008 and the first girl in each girl age category is the FIDE World Girl School Champion for 2008. According to the regulations they are awarded with the FIDE Candidate (Woman) Master title. 8.2. Medals and Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each category. In the case of a tie, up to a maximum of five (after tie-break) in each category will receive a medal. 8.3. Additional prizes will be awarded up to the top ten (after tie-break) in each category. 8.4. TEAM PRIZES In each category, 3 team prizes will be awarded based on the total score of the top three players of a country. Countries with less than two players will not be eligible for a team award. 8.5. Diplomas will be awarded to all participants who complete the Championships. 9. THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE Executive Director : Thomas Hoe10. VISA INFORMATION Teams or players needing visas are requested to contact the Organising Committee before 15th June. The Organising Committee will provide invitations for visas only after the necessary payments. The O.C. has no responsibility on late or incomplete registration forms. 11. For any other matter not mentioned in the General Regulations, the Organising Committee may decide after consultation with FIDE. 12. International Open Tournament: A 9-round Swiss Open Tournament will be held at the same venue and schedule. The Prize Fund is US$ 7,500 - 1st US$ 2,000; 2nd US$ 1,500; 3rd US$ 1,000; 4th US$ 800; 5th US$ 600; 6th US$400; 7th to 12th US$200 each. Entry Fee (paid not later than 15th June 2008) is as follow :-> Rating >2400 free; >2200 US$ 50; >2000 US$ 100; >1800 US$ 150; below 1801 US$ 200. Registration and Fees paid after 15th June shall be surcharged US$ 50 depending on availability of space. ![]() ![]() |
