The East Africa International Chess Championship was held from 21 to 24 March, 2008 in Kampala, Uganda. Uganda Chess Federation invited Kenyan Chess players to participate in the above event. In the spirit of promoting chess in the region, Chess Kenya had had good relations with the UCF and to this end, UCF had encouraged harmonization of their biggest events in their calendars, namely the Kenya Open and the above event.

Please note the new dates for the Kenya Open: May 30,31, June 1& 2.

Chess Kenya has plans to bring together all regional Chess Federation to discuss issues on how to promote and develop the sport for the benefits of the players in the region.
