The annual Melody Amber tournament took place, this year not in Monaco but in the beautiful French seaside resort of Nice, with twelve leading Grandmasters playing blindfold and rapid chess games. The venue of the seventeenth Amber Blindfold and Rapid Chess Tournament: the Palais de la Mediterranee, where the players are also staying.

The annual Melody Amber tournament took place, this year not in Monaco but in the beautiful French seaside resort of Nice, with twelve leading grandmasters playing blindfold and rapid chess games. The venue of the seventeenth Amber Blindfold and Rapid Chess Tournament: the Palais de la Mediterranee, where the players are also staying. The participants of this tournament were: Vladimir Kramnik (RUS), Viswanathan Anand (IND), Veselin Topalov (BUL), Alexander Morozevich (RUS), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (AZE), Peter Leko (HUN), Vasily Ivanchuk (UKR), Levon Aronyan (ARM), Boris Gelfand (ISR), Magnus Carlsen (NOR), Sergey Karjakin (UKR), Loek van Wely (NED). The prize fund is a massive 216,000 Euro (currently US $336,000).
