DSC 0413 le due torri

The chess club "Le due Torri" (meaning: the two rooks) of Italian city Spilimbergo will organize the 17th International chess tournament from 9th to 15th of August.
Spilimbergo is a small city of approx. 12.000 inhabitants in north-east of Italy in region "Friuli Venezia Giulia" (distance to Venice: 120 km).

There will be organized four tournaments:

° Master tournament: for players with rating over 2000 - 9 rounds
° Tournament A: rating 1700 to 2100 - 7 rounds
° Tournament B: rating lower than 1800 - 7 rounds
° Tournament C: rating lower than 1500 - 7 rounds

Till now 18 GM, 28 IM, 2 WGM, 1 WIM and 25 FM are inscripted in the Master tournament. The 105 players are out of 25 countries. The organizers expects more than 300 participants in all tournaments together (the aim is to beat the participants record from last year of 304 players).

Last year the winner was GM Aleksey Dreev (RUS) with 7,5 points out of the 9 games. Two players reached a GM-norm and one a WGM-norm.
