The entry for the amateur groups of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2019 will start at 10 am on 29 October.
What can chess lovers wish for more than being able to play their own tournament at a stone’s throw from the battleground of the world’s best grandmasters? This is one of the elements that make ‘the Wimbledon of Chess’ so special. Not only in Wijk aan Zee, where 1,700 chess players from all over the world will sit down behind the boards, but also elsewhere in the Netherlands chess fever is running high again.
The grandmasters of the Tata Steel Masters will also go on tour again. They will play in Alkmaar on Wednesday 16 January and in Leiden on Wednesday 23 January. The Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2019 will take place in Wijk aan Zee from 12 – 27 January 2019.
Entries for the Weekend-three-round events, the Weekday-three-round events and the Nine-round events can be submitted via the website of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament: www.tatasteelchess.com. The number of amateur participants is limited. Entries will be dealt with in the order of receipt.
