European Youth Team Chess Championship 2018, which will be played in two age categories (open and girls) U12 and U18, starts tomorrow in Bad Blankenburg, Germany.

The event will participate 44 teams coming from 15 European federations. Teams of the Open category consist of 4 players and 1 one reserve player, while Girls section teams consist of 2 players and one reserve player.

The Open U18 category will have very strong line-up with battlefield led by the first team of Germany 1 (average rating of players: 2439), Poland (average rating of players: 2403) and Austria (average rating of players: 2381). The team of Serbia (with average rating of players: 2286) is on the top of the starting list of the girls section U18, and is followed by Germany 1 (average rating of players: 2259) and Poland (average rating of players: 2236).

9 teams will be competing for the title of European Youth Team Chess Champion 2018 in Open section U12, where the top seeded teams are France (average rating of players: 2058), Hungary (average rating of players: 2056) and Belarus (average rating of players: 2043). In girls section U12, 6 teams will fight for the throne, and teams of Hungary (average rating of players: 1805), Germany 1 (average rating of players: 1794) and France (average rating of players: 1619) are first three teams on the starting list.

The first round of the event starts tomorrow, while the Captains meeting will take place tonight at 21:00 (local time). The Opening Ceremony of the event is scheduled before the start of the first round, at 13:30 (local time).

Top boards of the categories will be live transmitted, and the live broadcast of the games can be followed through the Official website of the Championship.

The event will be played in 7 rounds, Swiss system, according to ECU and FIDE Tournament rules, with time control 90 minutes for 40 moves+ 30 minutes for the rest of the game + 30 seconds increment for every played move starting from the move one. Draws before the 30th move made by black are strictly forbidden.
