53rd Jose Raul Capablanca MemorialThe Cuban Federation and the National Chess Commission, under the auspices of the National Institute of Sports Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), and with the support of Tryp Habana Libre, are holding the 53rd Capablanca Memorial International Tournament from 9-19th May, 2018.

The main Elite Group is as always a six-players double round robin. The average elo is 2649.

The participants list is headed by the newly crowned US champion GM Samuel Shankland (2710). Russia is represented by GM Aleksey Dreev (2653) and GM Aleksandr Rakhmanov (2635), while the talented GM David Anton Guijarro (2646) is coming from Spain.

Cuba is fielding two experienced GMs, Lazaro Bruzon Batista (2644) and Yusnel Bacallao Alonso (2594).

The very strong Open section features 205 participants from 14 federations, including 25 Grandmasters and 47 International Masters.
