The Nakhchivan Open 2018 Chess Festival was held from 1-10th May at the Chess Center in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan.
The event consisted on three sections: Open , Open B and Open C. In addition, a blitz tournament and 95-board simultaneous exhibition were held.
The main Open A had 58 participants from 15 countries and a strong field of 23 Grandmasters and 16 International Masters.
Grandmaster Nidjat Mamedov took the winner's trophy after edging GM Sergei Tiviakov on tie-break. The two players finished on 6,5/9 points each. The top prize in the main section is 5000 USD.
