Asian Youth Chess Championships Begins in Chiangmai, Thailand

Following a simple opening ceremony, the Asian Youth Championship held from 1-10 April 2018 in Chiangmai, Thailand, got under way with the Rapid Chess Competition.

Before the start, the championships could already be considered a huge success with the statistics showing a record breaking 1,130 entries in 3 categories of competition – Standard, Rapid and Blitz chess – in age groups from under 8 to under 18, both for boys (open) and girls from 26 countries.
