On March 11, a handicap tournament dedicated to 85th anniversary of Evgeni Vasiukov took place in the Central Chess Club in Moscow. The legendary grandmaster noted that this year handicap tournaments celebrated 20 years.

"It is a pleasure to see here my friends and colleagues from many regions of Russia. I would like to thank the Russian Chess Federation, the RCF Veterans Commission, Mayor of Mozhaysk Vassily Ovchinnikov, Vladimir Shumilin, and Alexey Ivanov for the support", says Evgeni Vasiukov.

57 chess players took part in the event. Alexandra Kosteniuk became the winner with 7.5 points out of 9. According to Evgeni Vasiukov, it was for the first time when a woman won a handicap tournament.

2-3 places were shared by Vasily Papin and Evgenij Kalegin who scored 7 points each. Thanks to his superior tie-break, Papin took the second place. Kalegin showed the best result among veterans as well.

Evgeni Vasiukov is seventh with 6.5 points. Valentina Gunina (5.5/9) and Tatiana Bogumil (5/9) showed the best results among women and senior women respectively.

Evgeni Vasiukov, Galina Dvorkovich and Mikhail Arkhangelsky held the Closing Ceremony. The winner didn't have enough time to be present at the ceremony, so the prize was rewarded to her parents - Konstantin and Natalia Kosteniuk. Many participants congratulated Evgeni Vasiukov and gave him gifts. Galina Dvorkovich presented him with a Gratitude from the Russian Chess Federation.
