GM Toms Kantans victorious in Pfalz Open Print

Latvian Grandmaster Toms Kantans emerged clear winner of the 9th Pfalz Open by concluding the event with 7,5/9 points. A huge tie on the second place saw nine players finishing on 7 points each.

The 9th Pfalz Open was held from 9-13th February at the Berufsbildende School in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany.

The event consisted of three sections: Open A for players rated above 1850, Open B for players rated 1450-1950 and Open C for players rated under 1550. The main Open A had 223 participants from 20 countries, including 14 Grandmasters.

The total prize fund was 17,000 EUR, of which 1700 EUR was reserved for the winner.
