THE VERY FIRST AL AIN INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR U20 OPEN CHESS TOURNAMENT

Under the auspices of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Al Ain Chess & Culture Club is organizing the very first junior U-20 international open chess tournament between 29, DEC 2017 – 07, JAN 2018 in Al Ain, UAE with total prize fund of $25000 for the open as well as $3900 for the blitz open. Al Ain Chess & Culture Club specially have chosen to organize an international open tournament for junior players with good prize money to support young chess players and to give them variety of nice opportunities by playing in the tournament.

The tournament has already started with 143 players including men and women GMs, IMs, FMs as well as CMs from 11 different countries. The technical director of Al Ain Chess & Culture Club, Mr. Tarek Al Taher and other officials have attended the opening ceremony which took place in Hili Rotana hotel.

Tournament is already getting closer to the final days as participants have finished the 5th round with solo leader IM Abdusattorov Nodirbek (2516) from Uzbekistan who recently became the best junior player of Asia. Meanwhile, the top seed GM Diptayan Ghosh (2556) from India has 4,5 points sharing the 2-7 places with other players after round 5. Also, there will be an open blitz tournament for everyone organized by Al Ain Chess & Culture Club on 4th of January, 2018.
