Greek Military Chess Championship 2017 |

The 2017 Greek Military Chess Championship was organized from 7 to 9 June in Tatoi Airport, in Dekeleia, Athens, by the School of Technical Aviation Officers (STYA) and the Supreme Sports Council of Armed Forces (ASAED), in cooperation with the Greek Chess Federation (GCF) and the World Chess Federation (FIDE).
The Championship took place in the Officers’ Club of STYA and was held in Swiss system and 9 rounds, with time control of 20 minutes for the game, with increment of 10 seconds per move, starting from move 1, per player.
Forty (40) players, belonging to the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Greek Police, the Coast Guard and the Fire Brigade, participated in the games.
Chief Arbiter was IA Takis Nikolopoulos.
In the Individual standings IM Anastasios Pavlidis (Greek Police) took the first place with 8 points. In the second place was Konstantinos Mouroutis (Air Force) with 8 points as well, while in the third place was Apostolos Tsiropoulas (Army) with 7 points. In the fourth place was WIM Ekaterina Pavlidou (Greek Police) with 6.5 points.
In the Team standings the team of the Greek Police (consisting of IM Anastasios Pavlidis, WIM Ekaterina Pavlidou and Nikolaos Karoutzo) took the first place with 20.0 points, the team of the Air Force (consisting of Konstantinos Mouroutis, Andreas Nikomanis and Alexander Alexopoulos) took the second place with 19.0 points and the team of the Army (consisting of Apostolos Tsiropoulas, Konstantinos Nikolopoulos and Hristos Hristodoulou) took the third place with 18.0 points.
At the Closing Ceremony the FIDE Executive Director Mr. Nigel Freeman was present and gave the trophies to the winning team.
