Chittagong Government School or the Blind became unbeaten Champion in the 1st School Chess Teams Chess Tournament 2017 in Chittagong, Bangladesh

Chittagong District Sports Association (CJKA) organised first time school team chess tournament named CJKS Nails and Wood Inter School Team Chess Tournament 2017. The event was held from 8th to 12th April 2017 in M A Azai Stadium Bhaban in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Total 36 teams from 22 schools participated in the event where 182 boys and 22 girls, the event was held 5 round Swiss League system for teams. Earlier Mr. Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Additional General Secretary of CJKS inaugurated the event as chief guest on 8th April in Chittagong. Sponsor of the event Mr. Mohammad Iqramul Hoque was present as special guest in the inauguration ceremony. Chittagong Government School for the Blind became unbeaten champion in the event. Chittagong Govt. School for the Blind earned 9 match points out of 5 games. All student of Chittagong Govt. School for the Blind are visually challenged chess players. They successes to clinch the school team chess title played with normal students. Sanowara Boys High School became Runners-up, Presidency School & College became 3rd with 8 points each. St Placids School became 4th and Bangladesh Mohila Samity Girls School & College became 5th with 7 points each in the event. The prize-distribution and closing ceremony was held in 12th April 2017. Chittagong City Corporation Mayor and General Secretary of CJKS Mr. A J M Nasir Uddin distributed prizes among winners teams as chief guest. Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Additional General Secretary of CJKS and sponsor of the event Mr. Mohammad Iqramul Hoque were present special guests. Joint Secretaries of CJKS Mr. Aminul Islam and Mr. Shahajada Alam, Executive Members of CJKS Mr. Ahid Siraj Swapon and Mr. A N M Wahid Dulal, Chess Committee President Zahedul Islam, Chess Committee Secretary WFM Tanima Parveen, Chess Committee Joint Secretary Rakibul Islam Sachchu, Chess Committee Members Mr. Mohsin Jamal, Mr. Ali Kaiser, Mr. Syed Abdul Ahed, Mr. S M Tareq, Mr. Nasir Hasan, Mr. Kamrul Islam and Mrs. Tinku Barua were present in the prize-distribution ceremony.
