Shamkir Chess 2017, an international chess tournament, dedicated to the memory of late Azerbaijani grandmaster Vugar Gashimov, will be held in Shamkir (Azerbaijan) during 20 April - 1 May, 2017. The organizers of the Tournament are "Synergy CSR" LLC and the Chess federation of Azerbaijan. Total prize fund is €100,000 and €25,000 for first place. The official opening ceremony will take place on 20 April 2017 at 18:30 at the playing venue. The Gashimov Memorial returns for a 4th edition, with the 10-player single round-robin set to feature Wesley So, Vladimir Kramnik, Sergey Karjakin, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Teimour Radjabov, Mickey Adams, Harikrishna, Pavel Eljanov, Radek Wojtaszek and Veselin Topalov.
