Turkish Cadets, Youth, Senior Chess Championships and ECU Board Meeting Completed in Antalya

Turkish Cadets, Youth and Senior Chess Championships organized by Turkish Chess Federation simultaneously took place between 21- 27 January 2017 in Antalya.

2457 players (1849 players between the ages of 7-12, 541 players between the ages of 13-18 and 67 senior players) from all 81 provinces of Turkey competed for 9 rounds and at the end of this challenging 6-day marathon, 220 players have achieved the right to join youth national team pool.

The closing ceremony of the record breaking championships took place on the 27th January 2017. The ceremony was organized in the playing venue at Mardan Palace Hotel and was attended by thousands of people, including players, parents, trainers, officials, journalists, VIP guests from all over Turkey.

Türkiye İş Bankası, the main sponsor of Turkish Chess Federation, organized a press meeting with players, parents, journalists and TCF board members during the championships. Players shared their success stories and achievements during the meeting.

During the championships, Turkish Chess Federation hosted the ECU Board meeting from 26th to 28th January. ECU Board Members also joined to the closing ceremony of the tournaments.


Turkish Cadet and Youth Championships Breaks a New Record

2017 Turkish Cadet, Youth and Senior Chess Championships simultaneously started on 22 January 2016 in Antalya. The Championships are hosting over 2.500 players and more than 6000 people in total (players, parents, arbiters, trainers and officials) from all 81 provinces of Turkey making this event yet another record breaker: the largest chess event in Turkey and even one of the biggest in the world. Turkish Cadet and Youth Championships have a special format, which contains separate tournaments for all age groups from U7 to U18, adding up to 24 different tournaments in total at the same time.

The organization also attracted a great attention from Turkish media.
