U.S. Grandmaster (1957), U.S. Champion in 1954.

Bisguier won the U.S. Open Chess Championship in 1950, 1956 and 1957, losing his title to then 13-year old Bobby Fischer. He was co-champion again in 1959 and in 1969. He won the U.S. Junior in 1948 and 1949, the National Open in 1970, 1974 and 1978. He is a three-time winner of the US Senior Open, winning in 1989, 1997 and 1998 and an inductee into the U.S. Chess Hall of Fame.

Best results: winner at Southsea in 1951, Vienna in 1953 and Lone Pine in 1973.

He played 5 times for the U.S. team between 1952 and 1972. In 2007, Bisguier was competing in his record 55th U.S. Open.

The author of The Art of Bisguier: Selected Games 1961-2003 and American Chess Master from Morphy to Fischer (1974).
