On December 13 the meeting of Diplomatic Club was held in the building of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The 12th World Champion, Anatoly Karpov gave a simultaneous and there was a blitz tournament for representatives of the Diplomatic corps. There was an exhibition of chess books given by the Biblio-globus publishing house.

The rector of the Diplomatic Academy, Evgeny Bazhanov presented Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Anatoly Karpov pins and Diplomatic Club membership certificates.

A welcome speech was given by the Deputy Minister of sports Mrs. Marina Tomilova.

Also present of one of the oldest Grandmasters, Yuri Averbakh and the current European champion, Ernesto Inarkiev.
