On December 12 Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the 12th World champion Anatoly Karpov took part in the Opening ceremony of the Chess tournament among children in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Independence organized by akimat of Astana.
100 children at the age from 7 to 18 participated in this tournament.
