On November 26th Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived to Bucharest for the traditional Kings Chess tournament. In the city Mediaș will be held the match between Vladimir Kramnik and Hou Yifan. It will be devoted to the memory of one of the strongest Romanian chess players, International Organiser and journalist Elisabeth Polihroniade. The constant partner of the tournament is “Romgaz”. There was a press conference with participation of the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of Romanian Chess Federation Sorin Iacoban, Women’s World Champion Hou Yifan, the 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov, President of ISCU Alexander Kostiev, tournament’s organizer Dan Gabar, the legend of the Romanian chess Florin Gheorghiu and GM Dorian Rogozenko.

On November 26 during the evening organized in memoriam of Elisabeth Polihroniade, the drawing of lots was held for the match between Vladimir Kramnik and Hou Yifan. The ceremony was attended by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, FIDE Executive Director Nigel Freeman, Anatoly Karpov, Alexander Kostiev, the management of the Romanian Chess Federation, the representatives of the tournament sponsor - Romgaz, the chess society, the friends and colleagues of Elisabeth Polihroniade. A movie devoted to the 10th anniversary of the Kings Tournament was shown during the ceremony. The speakers noted the talent of Elisabeth as a chess player, organizer, journalist, public figure and etc.
