Chess Map of New York City Produced to Celebrate the World Chess Championship Match

Organizers of the World Chess Championship that opens in New York City on November 11 in collaboration with FIDE released a chess map of New York, one of the world’s chess capitals. The map, free to download from the Championship website.

It’s a first ever map of a city related to chess culture: “From World Championships to street hustlers, New York City has it all when it comes to chess. We’ve produced a map that shows some of the highlights. The location of the first games ever played in a World Championship match; the spots where people can get a street game; and places where people can buy equipment. Best of all, the map is free”.

The map is part of the merchandising program of the World Chess Championship Match that will take place in New York on November 11 - November 30, 2016. The 12-round Match will be broadcasted in 360-degrees virtual reality, a first in any sport.

The Match is free to follow live on the official website and affiliate sites and organizers offer viewers a premium subscription: for $15 over 12 rounds subscribers will be able to choose multiple cameras, see the players live, use virtual reality broadcast on their desktops, smartphones and VR glasses and listen to expert commentary.
