On October 13, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was awarded the annual International award the Golden Biatec - 2016 for his contribution to "the cause of peace and development of the relationship between nations and states." The Award Ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation and the Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Alexey Fedotov, was held in Bratislava. At the same time, it was also stressed that the head of FIDE "intends to improve the world with the help of chess." Recall that the Golden Biatec Gold Medal is awarded by the Informal Economic Forum Economic Club, having its headquarters in Slovakia, for an exceptional contribution to the economic, social and political life of the world. Since the establishment of award in 1993, the previous laureates include: the Russian President Vladimir Putin; former US President George W. Bush; former French President Jacques Chirac; former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl; former President of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski and other well-known politicians and public figures.
