On July 21, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in Israel. In Tel Aviv together with FIDE President's Assistant Mr. Willy Iclicki visited Hakfar Hayarok Chess Academy and met with the new President of Israeli Chess Federation Mr. Daniel Porat. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov congratulated Mr. Porat with election to this post. They discussed the possibility of participation of the strongest Israeli chess players in the forthcoming World Chess Olympiad (it was reported some player of the national team refused to participate because of the conflicts with the leadership of the national federation). It was also agreed to seek the ways to continue the Chess in Schools programme. As it is known, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov personally supported this project financially for several years in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Israel.
