Faik Hasanov was announced as the Chief Arbiter of the 42nd Chess Olympiad


Mr. Faik Hasanov was announced as the Chief Arbiter of the 42nd Chess Olympiad which will be held in Baku, according to the information from the Press Service of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee. Some more arbiters, which number shall raise up to around 200 in accordance with the number of teams registered to the Olympiad, will come to Baku to help the Chief Arbiter control the gamesduring the Olympiad. The Deputy Chief Arbiters to the 42nd Chess Olympiad will be Mrs. Anastasia Sorokina and Mr. Mahdi Abdulrahim.

The tournament director of the Olympiad will be Mr. Takis Nikolopoulos, Chairman of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission.

The 42nd Chess Olympiad will start on September 1st and last until September 14th. This prestigious competition will take place in Azerbaijan for the first time and will be held in the “Crystal Hall” venue. The 87th FIDE Congress, organized in parallel to the Olympiad, will also take place in Baku from September 4th to 14th in the Fairmont Hotel.
