On April 21st Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (PFUR) where was held the traditional PFUR Rector’s Chess Cup dedicated to the Spring and Labor Day. During the festivities, a simultaneous game by one of the most famous and titled Russian Grandmasters Alexander Morozevich was held, as well as the blitz tournament.
Apart the FIDE President, at the opening ceremony were present the representatives of various departments, university administration and chess community. The head of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov sent the welcome address to the guests and participants. The representatives from more than 150 countries worldwide study in PFUR University, which celebrated recently its 55th anniversary.
