
On November 21, the FIDE President arrived to Almaty for the opening ceremony of the fourth Central Asian Cup. More than 70 chess players from six countries of the Asian continent (Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) participate in the tournament. The prize fund is 25,000 USD. In Astana Kirsan Ilyumzhinov also met with the President of “Astana EXPO-2017” Mr. Akhmetzhan Esimov. The issues of potential cooperation in the framework of the world exhibition in the capital of Kazakhstan have been discussed. It was noted that the holding of official tournaments from the FIDE Calendar will attract the interest to this event. The both sides agreed to meet again to discuss the detailed studying of bilateral cooperation.
