On July 3rd during his working visit to the Ukraine the FIDE President met with Mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko. The Mayor and Kirsan Ilyumzhinov had a constructive dialogue about the cooperation on the popularization of chess in the capital of Ukraine. Vitali Klitschko expressed his interest in the annual organization of one of the official events from the FIDE Calendar in Kiev, presumably Grand Prix. He also is interested in the opening of chess equipped classes in 500 schools in Kiev, as well as the introduction of optional chess lessons and arrangement of chess corners in all 10 parks in the Ukrainian capital. It was agreed to sign a Memorandum on cooperation between both sides.
