During the FIDE Grand Prix tournament in Khanty Mansiysk, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and President of the Spanish Chess Federation, Javier Ochoa de Echagüen, signed a chess in schools partnership agreement. It was witnessed by acting governor of Ugra, Natalia Komarova.
This followed on from a very productive meeting in Palma de Mallorca between the President of the Spanish federation and its Secretary, Ramon Padulles, the national coordinator for CiS in Spain, Pep Suarez and CiS Chairman Kevin O'Connell.
The Spanish federation (FEDA) will collaborate with FIDE in ongoing work, making available online material for school chess teachers, especially FSCTs and FSCLs (FIDE School Chess Teachers and FIDE School Chess Leaders).
