The Public Relations Director of Botswana Chess Federation was crowned the administrator of the year by Botswana National Sports Council. Ms Keenese Katisenge won the award after she was nominated along side two other administrators. Keenese has been hailed as the pioneer for young girls and women in Botswana both in chess and other empowerment initiatives. She is highly credit for championing the course for women in sports and for being instrumental in the promotion of chess among school going kids. Her hardwork and passion has earned Botswana Chess an enviable image across the country and has seen the government recognize chess as a sports.
In her remarks after winning the awards, Keenese thanked Botswana Chess Federation executive for believing in her, she extended her gratitude to the FIDE Women Commission, Africa Chess Union and FIDE for giving her the platform. Over and above her achievement, Botswana Chess Federation was nominated for the following positions:
1) Sporting Code of the year 2) Young Male Player of the year: FM Thato Olebile 3) Young Woman Player of the year: WIM Onkemetse Francis 4) Best team of the Year: Botswana Olympiad team 2013
