Portuguese International Master, thirteen times national Champion and President of his federation for 20 years. Vice President of FIDE between 1994 and 1996.
Best player of Portugal for more than two decades (1960-1980). A participant in the Olympiads from 1958 until 1982.
Best results: Detmold 1966, 1st; Roma B 1985, 4th; World Senior Championship in 1991, 7th. Best ELO: 2325 in 1976.
