Perfect victories in last rounds by Jakovenko Dmitry (RUS) allowed him to catch up with leading group of Caruana Fabiano (ITA) and Nakamura Hikaru (USA) with 6 points. Dominguez Perez Leinier (CUB) lost hist game and remained with 5.5. The winner of the 4th leg of FIDE Grand Prix will be known after the final round on May, 25 2015. 7 hour battle between Karjakin Sergey (RUS) and Tomashevsky Evgeny (RUS) was the most spectacular in the Round 5 and brought his first victory to  Karjakin Sergey (RUS). Jakovenko Dmitry (RUS) also scored against Vachier-Lagrave Maxime (FRA). Caruana Fabiano (ITA) still tops the ranking after Round 5 with 3.5.

Leinier Domínguez (CUB) managed to defeat Dmitry Jakovenko (RUS) and Evgeny Tomashevsky (RUS) drew against Grischuk Alexander (RUS) in the longest 6 hours game in the tournament so far.

Round 1: Khanty-Mansiysk Grand Prix: Tomashevsky and Jakovenko win in round one

The first round of the Khanty-Mansiysk FIDE Grand Prix was inaugurated by Deputy Governor of Ugra Alexey Putin who made the honorary move 1.Nf3 in the game Jakovenko – Giri. In a repeat of the previous Grand Prix in Tbilisi, Baadur Jobava and Evgeny Tomashevsky were paired in the first round. Tomashevsky won again but only after turning the tables from a very grim position.

The local Grand Prix nominee, Dmitry Jakovenko, defeated Anish Giri in the longest game of the day. Right after the opening white won a pawn and then traded most of the pieces to convert the advantage in the Rook ending.

The remaining four games were drawn.

The online commentators are Grandmasters Evgeny Miroshnichenko, Viorel Iordachescu (English), Sergei Shipov and Sergei Rublevsky (Russian).

The fourth and final stage of the FIDE Grand Prix series 2014-2015 is taking place from 13-27th May in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.

Each Grand Prix stage is a 12-player round robin event with the prize money of 120,000 EUR offered by the host city. The winner of Grand Prix in Khanty-Mansiysk will earn 20,000 EUR.

FIDE Grand Prix is part of the FIDE World Chess Championship cycle. The winner and second placed player overall of the GP Series will qualify for the 2016 Candidates Tournament.

The last leg of FIDE Grand Prix 2014-2015 series started on May, 13 2015. Opening ceremony took place in Chess Academy of Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. During last years Khanty-Mansiysk hosted numerous FIDE events: Chess Olympiad, Grand-Prix series events, World Chess Championships and World Chess Cups.
