On April 17th the FIDE President paid a short visit to Tbilisi. In the chess palace named after Nona Gaprindashvili Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the President of the Georgian Chess Federation Mr. Giorgi Giorgadze. The presidents discussed the preparations for the 2017 World Chess Cup and 2018 World Chess Olympiad to be held in Georgia, and the case of the Georgian player Gaioz Nigalidze, occurred after his disqualification at the recently finished Dubai Open Chess Tournament.
