SportAccord Convention in Sochi |

On April 19 the FIDE President arrived to Sochi to participate in the General Assembly of ARISF (Association of IOC Recognized International Sport Federations) in the framework of the SportAccord Convention, the World Sport and Business Summit. The meetings are held in the “Pushkin” hall of the main Media center in Olympic Village, Imeretinsky valley. It is remarkable that the Match between Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand was held in the same hall last November. The opening ceremony will take place on April 20th with participation of the Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of FIDE and IMSA, met with the Chinese delegation which represents the national center of intellectual sports. The both sides discussed the possibilities of organization and holding the next World Mind Games and cooperation between IMSA and Chinese partners. The General Assembly of ARISF was also attended by the IOC President Thomas Bach who spoke about the main aspects of the reforms programme of the Olympic movement.

FIDE President met with the IOC President Thomas Bach who highly noted the role and activity of FIDE. It was agreed that the presidents will meet in Lausanne on June 19th 2015.
