On April, 16 2015 FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in Azerbaijan to the city of Shamkir. He took part in the opening ceremony of the second Vugar Gashimov Memorial (April, 16 - 26) - Super tournament of the 21st category, one of the strongest competitions this year.
The ceremony took place in the Town Center of Heydar Aliyev - ultramodern building, launched 1.5 years ago. General sponsor of the tournament is the company "Synergy Group".
The ceremony was attended by Mayor of Shamkir Alim-Pasha Mamedov, the first deputy chairman of Synergy Group Fakhriyar Jabbarov, father of Vugar - Gasim Gashimov and FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
